I OWN A T/C TRIUMPH AND I'M ENDING UP WITH RUST IN THE BARREL AFTER CLEANING AND LUBING THE BARREL WITH BORE BUTTER PATCHES AND LETTING THE GUN SIT. I ALSO I TRIED REMINGTON SPRAY OIL WITH TEFLON AS A LUBE AND IS STILL HAS RUST IN IT.AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG HERE. I NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY AUSTIN & HALLECK IN-LINE OR MY T/C HAWKIN FLINTLOCK. PLEASE HELP.

Well I would suggest you take a 50 cal bore brush and scrub the barrel real good. Use a real potent cleaner also. Sometimes I resort to carberator claner. Get all the existing rust out of the barrel. Then chekc the barrel or have it checked to see if it is pitted etc. I do not use bor butter anymore on newer barrels, a regular gun oil will work to keep them rust free etc. Is the gun stored in a dry place, i.e with a dehumidifier of some type working. Any other guns showing this effect?

TWERTH THE GUNS ARE STORED IN A DRY PLACE AND NONE OF THE OTHER GUNS SHOW SIGN OF ANY RUST. I DID PURCHASE THE 3-IN-ONE RUST INHIBITOR AND PUT IT IN WITH THE TRIUMPH TO SEE IF THAT HELPS. THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO AND HELP.

I have had bore butter turn the color of rust after sitting a year also. Fooled me once until I realized what it was.
