Britax Child Safety
MSRP: N/A

Online Rating: (8.5/10)

Britax Child Safety Inc. is offering a special limited edition convertible child seat dressed in Mossy Oak Break-Up camo.

The Britax Marathon is the No. 1 selling Britax convertible child seat and is ideal for parents looking for premium comfort and a higher, forward-facing harnessed weight capacity (up to 65 pounds). The Marathon starts with the premium cover made from Microfibres fabric, which is washable and the ultimate in soft, plush comfort.

Unique features include the tangle-free, five-point harness with four harness heights for a snug and secure fit. Premium push-button LATCH connectors and convenient harness adjuster make it easy to ensure a quick, simple and tight installation.

The Marathon also features the company’s patented Versa-Tether energy managing top tether, which anchors the child seat to the vehicle, reducing movement in the event of impact or a sudden stop. The Marathon is fully lined with expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam that gently cushions and distributes energy away from the child.

The Britax Marathon fits children rear facing from five to 33 pounds and children forward facing from at least one year old and 20 pounds, up to 65 pounds and is approved for aircraft use.

The Mossy Oak Break-Up model is sold through select independent retailers nationwide. To find a retailer near you, visit BritaxUSA.com.

PROS
Great weight range (up to 65lbs) from infant up. Material stays cool in the sun. Adjusts to fit most vehicle seats. Also has speed clips that are great for taking seat in and out when more room is needed.

CONS
My only problem is that right now my son needs to be rear facing, it is a lot taller then most seats due to it's higher weight rating to fit larger/older children. If I was any taller it would cause a problem with my seat going back far enough. No other cons as of yet.

OVERALL
I found that it is a great seat all around and it's safety rating is great. I found mine on Amazon.com

PROS
Can use seat a long time, due to adjustable harness and wide weight range. Very easy to use, both 1) getting your child into and out of, and 2) getting into your vehicle (with either the LATCH system or seatbelts). While it is not inexpensive, it's safety ratings and ease of use makes it a worthwhile buy.

CONS
Not small - with smaller vehicles it may not fit easily, particulary when rearward facing.

OVERALL
We are extremely happy with our seats - we have 2 now, one for each vehicle, and will have 2 more soon. Go to http://www.britaxusa.com/about/wheretobuy.aspx to see where you can buy one, either online or in a retailer, such as Target (where we got ours).

PROS
Best car seat on the market. They're pricey, but worth the expense. The straps stay square and are extra rugged, so they don't twist up (even when soaked with whatever my boy spilled on him...er out of him). The straps adjust easy as he's grown (no rethreading, just a twist tensioner). The buckle system to lock the seat down is pretty impressive as well...no micky mouse clips, it works just like a seat belt buckle on each side to clip onto the D-rings in your car.

CONS
There are many models. Starting from the top cadilac version, for each level in price down, you remove a feature or a pad or something, but to replace that feature aftermarket costs more than the downgrade. Nothing wrong with the seat, just the sales strategy.

OVERALL
I'm sold, all my kids will get a Britax. They're more expensive, but well worth the cost. It is a very impressive, well thought out design.
