I WAS LOOKING INTO BUYING A THERMACELL AND WAS WONDERING HOW WELL THEY WORK. ALSO HOW LONG DOES A REFILL LAST? I SEE THAT 1 REFILL PACK COMES WITH 3 MATS. HOW OFTEN DO YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE MAT? IT SAYS THAT ONE BUTANE CARTRIDGE LASTS 12 HOURS SO I ASSUME A MAT LASTS ONLY 4 HOURS. ANY INPUT ON THIS WOULD BE APPRECIATED!

I have one and love it. One scent pad does last about 3-4 hours. They are blue and when they lose their color it's time to change. If you get one you'll like it. |

They work great. Last week I sat in a ground blind that was full of skeeters and within 5 mins. the skeeter problem was taken care of. I never go out on a sit this time of year without mine. The pads have to be changed every 3 hrs. and the cartridge is good for 12 hrs. good luck , artypelt

They are the greatest invention of modern man!!!!!!I hunt in the swamps of lowcountry SC. I fire mine up while I'm riding my atv into the swamp, and never have a problem with biting bugs. If I am going to sit in a tree stand or a ground blind, I fire it up while walking in, again no problems. I've got the holster on mine, and always carry extra pads and a backup gas cartridge. |

I agree with everyone. I hunt in a swamp in WI and never had a problem with any biting bugs. But make sure you have extra butane & filters. Cause if you run out you will know it. My swamp was pretty much unhuntable early season till I got a thermacell. I told alot of my friends that if it costed $100 I would still get it. |

I had the same questions up to two years ago and kept putting off getting one thinking $6 bucks a day is way too much as I hunt all of Archery (30 days) and 15 days of gun from Dark to Dark. Used Shannons bug suit for years. Finally broke down and got Thermacell and my advise now is don't even give it a second thought get it as you can use the same butane and mat for sevral days if you turn it off when no bugs. I am in Fl and there are times when they (bugs) will try to carry you off but not with Thermacell. You can get the bulk packs (down here they have them in Home Depote) which is 4 butane and 12pads. I just started refilling my butane cylinders so won't have that to worry about anymore. Instructions on You Tube look it up!!! |

Thermacell is having another promotion....buy one lantern thermacell, get a rebate on another...essentially getting 2 for one...starts & ends on Sat, 7/17, must make the purchase that day. Check out thermacells website for more info... |

I hunt the lowcountry swamps of SC too. I WILL NEVER GO INTO THE SWAMPS WITHOUT A THERMACELL, OR TWO. They work excellent. You can never have to many refills either. I buy them during the off season when they are on sale. You gotta get one. You won't regret it. |

YOU BETTER NOT LEAVE HOME WITHOUT IT!!!! Trust me, I did the same thing as you. I put it off for no other reason than my own laziness. It is phenominal! It should be the top priority on your equipment list when you put your gear together for the season. I went so far as to buy the Lantern on 7/17 at my local Bass Pro Shop, and the same day mailed in the UPC code and receipt so I could get another Lantern. Man, don't wait another minute!

They are great.....as long as you are below about 9000' in altitude. It has been my experience that anything above that and mine is VERY hard to light. Once it is lit, it is hard to beat. |
